Spring is Here
This month, we’re proud to share powerful reflections from our community, recent media coverage highlighting the urgency of our work, and a bold new policy initiative led by our members. Whether we’re helping someone secure housing or pushing for systemic change, we remain committed to showing up with integrity, purpose, and deep compassion.
In The News: The Fight for Food Security
We were recently featured in PIX11’s coverage on the increasing pressure facing food pantries and soup kitchens as federal funding continues to remain uncertain. Our team spoke about the rising need in our community, and how delayed federal funds impact our ability to serve our members. Check out the full story below.
Member Testimonial: Finding Secure Housing
Our Empowerment Program connects our members to vital resources every day, such as housing, health care, and job training. Our team provides personalized support by building on the inherent strengths of our members.
We’re honored to share a reflection from a member who found permanent housing while working with our team after more than a year in temporary housing.
“After a very long year and a half of living in temporary housing, Sireen from Neighbors Together has been a driving force. She followed up with everyone, and I even found out firsthand from her that my voucher was finalized and that we were clear to move into our new apartment.
She continued checking in after we were placed to ensure all concerns were addressed, and to this day, I am grateful for all the possibilities and the work, passion, and purpose she poured into me.”

Fighting Housing Discrimination with Policy
Far too often, our members are facing hardship while finding housing simply because they have a housing voucher. This practice is called “source of income discrimination” and it is illegal.
That’s why we have worked with our members, coalition partners, and Councilmember Shekar Krishnan to draft the Source of Income Discrimination Bill Package. This package is comprised of six bills that will:
✅ Ban unfair credit and income requirements for voucher holders
✅ Raise fines for discrimination to stop bad landlords from profiting
✅ Require transparency in the rental process
Our member leader Jasmine Smith shared her powerful story in City Limits, shedding light on the real harm caused by voucher bias and why we are pushing for stronger support for voucher holders.
Every step forward at Neighbors Together, from finding someone a home to changing unjust policies, is only possible because of your support. Thank you for standing with us. Together, we are creating lasting change — one story, one bill, and one victory at a time.
With Deep Gratitude,
The Neighbors Together Team
