TRAINED IN SOURCE OF INCOME DISCRIMINATION
We operate with a strengths-based, goal-oriented approach to advocacy and case management. By building on the inherent strengths of our members, we encourage self-advocacy, enabling them to manage challenges and ultimately avoid crises.

Our staff provides personalized support to individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping them navigate New York City’s housing market. Through Housing Search Workshops, Source of Income Discrimination Trainings, and ongoing assistance, the Empowerment Program is dedicated to ensuring marginalized communities receive the resources they need for long-term stability.

Summer at Neighbors Together

As summer unfolds in Brooklyn, so does the energy, resilience, and care of our community. From building partnerships across the borough to welcoming new team members and celebrating the incredible people who power our work, this month at Neighbors Together has been full of connection and purpose. Read on to see what we’ve been up to, and how together we’re creating a stronger, more compassionate city for all.

Meet Our New Housing Service Advocate: Crystal!

Please join us in welcoming Crystal to the Neighbors Together team!

Crystal is a longtime supporter, former volunteer, and passionate advocate for our community. She brings a wealth of experience supporting individuals as they navigate healthcare systems and services, and she’s excited to bring her compassion, diligence, and zeal to her new role.

We’re so lucky to have her as a part of the team. Welcome, Crystal!

Community, Collaboration and Capacity Building in Brooklyn

This month, our Operations and Volunteer Manager Sandro joined over 40 amazing organizations at the FY25 Brooklyn Borough Chat, hosted by Goke Food Pantry in partnership with the Food Bank for New York City.

From presentations on community needs and fundraising to a powerful de-escalation role-play, the day was filled with wisdom, tools, and connection.

Big thanks to the presenters, volunteers, and community leaders who made space to learn, grow, and share. We left inspired, connected, and even more equipped to serve our Brooklyn neighbors.

Fighting For Fairness in NYC’s Shelter System

Last week, we joined dozens of advocates and allies to speak out against the City’s unjust shelter sanctions. These new policies are punishing people experiencing homelessness instead of providing the support they need to survive and get back on their feet.

We’re proud to stand alongside our partners in calling for humane, effective solutions. Everyone deserves stable housing, dignity, and care -not punishment.

Volunteer Spotlight: Flor and Nicole

We couldn’t serve thousands of meals every week without our dedicated volunteers, and this month we’re highlighting Flor and Nicole!

Hear directly from them about why they choose to give their time, what keeps them coming back to volunteer, and the message they want to share about Neighbors Together’s impact.

Thank You

Thank you for being part of the Neighbors Together community. Whether you show up as a volunteer, advocate, donor, or supporter from afar -your commitment fuels our fight against hunger, homelessness, and poverty. We couldn’t do this work without you, and we’re so grateful to be in this with you.

With Deep Gratitude,

The Neighbors Together Team
