How did you get involved with Neighbors Together?
I got involved with Neighbors Together when I met the former Board Chair at a United Way recruitment event. I was blown away by his enthusiastic description of all the incredible work Neighbors Together does and how it punches far above its weight. I then met the other members of the Board and the Executive Director and I could sense a theme — more enthusiasm, more passion. It was infectious and I knew this was an organization I wanted to be a part of.
What do you love about being part of Neighbors Together?
I love everything about the organization, but I especially love that the wonderful people who work at Neighbors Together are on the front lines of fighting hunger and poverty daily. Even though it is not glamorous, it is vital. I’ll never forget the first time I went to Neighbors Together and helped serve lunch. As they ate, the faces on the members changed from cold and tired to warm and comfortable, and I realized it was because they were being nourished by both the food and the community Neighbors Together provides. That (and much more) happens every day at Neighbors Together and I am humbled to play a (very small) role in the impact they make on the community.
