TRAINED IN SOURCE OF INCOME DISCRIMINATION
We operate with a strengths-based, goal-oriented approach to advocacy and case management. By building on the inherent strengths of our members, we encourage self-advocacy, enabling them to manage challenges and ultimately avoid crises.

Our staff provides personalized support to individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping them navigate New York City’s housing market. Through Housing Search Workshops, Source of Income Discrimination Trainings, and ongoing assistance, the Empowerment Program is dedicated to ensuring marginalized communities receive the resources they need for long-term stability.

Our Community Cafe is the heart and soul of Neighbors Together, and serves over 10,000 members of central Brooklyn annually.

What’s new?

During our renovation period, the cafe was closed, and our Cafe staff took this time to examine cafe services, fine-tune our serving structure, and revamp our menu! Check out our seasonal Menu below!

Our Cafe staff has been thrilled to enjoy new equipment in the Cafe which will help tremendously in professionalizing our meal service! Cafe staff are also enjoying new branded uniforms, and new aprons branded for volunteers serving meals.

Our Lead Chef Marcel Lindoume has created a seasonal summer menu, and with the addition of our in-house grill, we can’t wait to serve our members the best meals possible!

Since re-opening in May, our Community Cafe has welcomed one hundred and fifty individuals on average, every day, for every meal service.

How many meals are we serving?

Since re-opening in May, our Community Cafe has welcomed over 150 individuals for every meal service daily.  We continue to see new faces and an increase in demand for our Cafe services as more people in the neighborhood become aware of our re-opening.

Of those meals, 49,020 (81%) were served to adults, 6,449 (11%) to the elderly, and 4,980 (8%) to children.

While we continue to receive funding for food in our Community Cafe, we are keeping our eyes on legislation that could impact funding for state and federal food resources.
